Psychotherapist

Hello, I'm Yovania, and I'm a psychotherapist passionate about what makes human beings thrive. I bring a whole-person lens to my work, one that strives to honour each person's story, their culture, and their unique journey. I hold a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Health with a focus on maternal and child health, both from UNC Chapel Hill.

Life transitions, perinatal support and anxiety

Life transitions and anxiety are often deeply connected. Moving into a new chapter, whether that's becoming a parent, making important life decisions as a young adult, working through relationship anxieties, or achieving a lot on the outside while feeling out of sorts on the inside, can quietly change everything. One week you're managing beautifully, and the next you might feel anxious, stretched thin, or unsure of how to carry everything on your plate. Trauma and past experiences can shape this too, influencing how safe and grounded we feel in our own lives. None of it means you're failing. It usually means you're carrying a lot and haven't had many places to say so out loud. There are seasons of life when we could all use a little extra support, and therapy can be a powerful place to sort through what's weighing on you, lighten the load, and move through this chapter with more ease.

Clients I Work With

I love walking alongside adults (18+) who are moving through the many transitions life brings. This often includes people in pregnancy, new parenthood, or the early years of raising a family. Especially mothers who look "fine" on the outside, but feel depleted or lost in the shuffle. I also love supporting young adults and professionals navigating their own life transitions, people used to holding everything together who are quietly worn out by it. Because culture and identity shape all of this, I especially welcome clients from multicultural backgrounds who'd rather not have to explain or translate the parts of their story that matter most. Whether you're a new parent, a seasoned parent navigating the many parts of your life, or someone moving through a hard season, I'd be glad to walk alongside you.

How Therapy with Me Can Help

Our context and our past experiences shape us in more ways than we often realize. Trauma, in particular, can quietly influence how safe, grounded, and connected we feel in our own lives and relationships. Together, we'll gently unpack what's keeping you stuck or caught in a loop, so those patterns loosen their grip. From there, we'll draw on the strengths you already carry and bring your areas of growth into the light, not to judge them, but to understand them. My hope is that, over time, these patterns lose their hold, so you can live in a way that reflects your values and genuinely enjoy the moments that matter with your family and your community, rather than just getting through them. I offer a caring, honest presence and a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be truthful about how you're really doing.

On a more personal note...

I grew up on an island, so the ocean will always be my happy place and where I go to reset. When I'm not at work, you'll often find me hosting friends for a good meal and a longer-than-average conversation about life, curled up with a mystery novel and a strong cup of coffee, or trying new dance classes as a way to bring some extra joy and levity to my life.
