Molly Lankford LCMHCA
Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Molly Lankford, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate at Modern Change in Durham, NC. Whether you're beginning therapy for the first time or returning to it after a break, I’m honored to walk alongside you. I offer both telehealth and in-person appointments based on your needs. My areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and relationship struggles. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy that supports healing from distressing experiences. I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and deep respect for the healing process

Trauma, Anxiety, Emotional Overwhelm & Relationship Challenges
We all have moments where we feel stuck, unseen, or unsure how to move forward. If you’re carrying old wounds, trying to make sense of big emotions, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out alone either. In therapy, I help clients understand the deeper roots of what’s keeping them stuck and work together to build self-compassion, emotional balance, and a stronger sense of self. Our work might include learning new ways to cope, setting boundaries that protect your peace, or processing painful memories that are still impacting your life today. No matter the path, I believe that healing happens in a space of safety, warmth, and authenticity.
Clients I Work With
Are you a parent watching your child struggle with big feelings or behavior that doesn’t make sense? A teen feeling overwhelmed by pressure, anxiety, or identity? Maybe you’re an adult trying to navigate relationships, process trauma, or just find more peace in your daily life. I work with children (ages 6+), teens, adults, and couples, and I tailor my approach to each client’s individual story and goals. I also welcome neurodivergent clients and enjoy working with folks who are navigating life through the lens of ADHD, autism, or both. Whether you're here to untangle the past or build something new, I’d be honored to support you.
How Therapy with Me Can Help
My approach is warm, person-centered, and collaborative. I use EMDR, trauma-informed care, and emotion regulation tools to help clients process what's been overwhelming and reconnect with their sense of strength and agency. Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you; it’s about making room for all parts of you and learning how to care for yourself in more honest and compassionate ways. I believe therapy can be a space where we do deep work while also holding space for laughter, relief, and even playfulness - especially with younger clients.
On a more personal note...
Outside of the therapy room, I find joy in spending time with animals - especially geese! I have a soft spot for creatures that are a little misunderstood and deeply loyal. I also love creative projects, musical theatre, nature walks, and the occasional nerd convention. I believe therapy should feel human, not clinical, and I strive to bring that spirit of realness and warmth into every session.
