Katie Loebner, MSW Intern, CCC-SLP
Welcome! Reaching out for support is difficult and I am glad you are here. I’m Katie and I provide in-person psychotherapy in Durham and virtually across North Carolina. Therapy is a space to show up exactly as you are to work on being the person you want to be for yourself, others, and the world. Together we will tailor therapy to meet your specific needs.
I hold a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology am completing my MSW in Social Work the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At Modern Change I am under the supervision of Luisa Cesar. I bring a queer perspective and have over a decade of experience working in hospitals with working with individuals with acute and chronic illness and their caregivers.
***Because I am an intern, I am not in-network with any insurance companies and my therapy rate is a low fee of $30/session.***
Transitions, Self-Compassion, and Grief Support
It is normal to have feelings of anxiety, depression, isolation, and failure. Navigating our changing lives and world can be overwhelming, but you do not have to go through it alone. Together we can work to process difficult experiences, establish helpful routines, take care of ourselves and others, and ultimately feel at ease with the life we are living.
Clients I Work With
I work with adults, older adults, couples, and adolescents. This includes caregivers, helpers, older adults with aging related challenges, and anyone looking to deepen their relationship to themselves and others.
You might be struggling with life transitions, relationships, stress management, burnout, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Or perhaps you are seeking support for personal growth and identity issues, chronic illness, loss, or grief. I welcome all demographics and walks of life and will respect your unique background and life story. LGBTQIA+ folks joyfully welcome.
How Therapy with Me Can Help
My approach is non-judgmental, collaborative, and relational. You are the expert on you and have power and control over what works best for you in therapy. If you are not sure what works, that is okay too. We will work together to find good options. I am a curious and empathetic listener and am open to creative approaches that will help move through hard things.
While I believe therapy is best when it is specific to you, I integrate components of Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, embodiment practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and psychodynamic approaches into our work as they are helpful and welcome. We will work at a pace that feels right to you, and I will honor your mind and body’s wisdom. I do therapy because I believe authentic human relationships help us change and heal.
On a more personal note…
Things that bring me joy in life include snuggling my pitt-mix dog, morning coffee, meals with friends, time in nature, and new artistic projects. I am bird-nerd (I am a night owl though my favorite bird is the kingfisher) and feel my best after a good belly laugh or deep conversation.
